The Tambopata National Reserve and its buffer zone is home to an incredible diversity of herpetofauna, where you can see the incredible anaconda (Eunectes murinus) sunning itself among the trees and bushes of the lakes or streams and the four species of caimans of the Peruvian Amazon , black caiman (Melanosuchus niger), white caiman (Caiman crocodrilus), the smooth-fronted caiman (Paleosuchus trigonatus) and the dwarf caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus). You also could participate in sampling for our research project called “Diversity of gastrointestinal parasites and their relationship with health in snakes of the Boidae family”, which seeks to conserve these species and their habitat.
