If you like exploring new things and are a nature lover, these four-day tours are for you. The Tambopata National Reserve is an area that preserves intact a sample of tropical jungle, where you can still observe a lot of fauna in its natural environment. You also could learn about our herpetofauna research that we have been carrying out at Casa Malinowski Jungle Lodge. We are in a cozy place, with an environment that helps reflection, connection with nature, with a staff that is attentive to your attention and comfort.
ITINERARY.
Day 01: Introduction to the Amazon.
· Reception at the Airport or Land Terminal.
You will be welcomed by a bilingual guide certified by DIRCETUR. If you have large suitcases, we suggest you repack and take only what you need.
· Transfer to family business.
A car or minivan will take us for approximately 2 hours until we reach the banks of the Tambopata River. Where, we will take a boat with an outboard and navigate upstream, first the Tambopata River and then the Malinowski River, both for approximately 60 minutes, during the journey to the “Casa Malinowski Jungle Lodge” venture we will enjoy the incredible landscapes. and the fauna found on the banks of the rivers.
· Welcome and delivery of rooms.
Upon arrival at the Casa Malinowski Jungle Lodge, the family will welcome you while you taste a natural fruit drink from the season, and then show you your room, which has a single bed, a nightstand, private bathroom, and an armchair. of liana and a large window open to the forest. The infrastructure is made of a palm tree called wasai and a crisneja leaf roof, which produces a fresh, calm, and harmonious environment with nature.
· Lunch.
· Interpretive Walk.
In the afternoon we will take an interpretive walk among gigantic and long-lived trees where we will learn about the environmental, cultural, and economic importance of these trees. We also could see birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects, among others in their natural habitat.
· Looking for Alligators.
At dusk, we will go sailing in an outboard boat on the Malinowski River, with the help of a flashlight, we will look for white alligators, which generally come out to the sandbanks to regulate their body temperature.
· Dinner.
· Overnight at the hostel.
Day 02. Barbon lake and mammal clay licks.
· Piranha fishing and search for Giant River Otter in the Barbon Lake.
In the afternoon we will try our luck by going piranha fishing at Barbón Lake, where you can observe a great diversity of birds and spectacular views of the sunset in the jungle. In a rowing boat, we will explore the shores of the lake looking for the Giant River Otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), a charismatic species, biological controller, and top predator. Currently this species is threatened by illegal mining that destroys and contaminates its habitat and intensive fishing in lakes and streams.
· Lunch.
· Aguas Negras Creek and mammals Clay lick.
After lunch, we will leave in a boat with Peque Peque motor to the Aguas Negras creek, it is a creek with crystal clear water, but that reflects a dark color, with trees and bushes that cross from one side to the other and often cover part of the creek, giving a dark, mysterious appearance and takes you into a wild jungle. In approximately 30 minutes we will arrive at the mammals’ clay lick, a place with a slope in the ground, which was caused by the mammals that gather in the place to eat clay, because it is rich in mineral salts, and this helps them in their diet. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the wild Black spider monkey, tapir or Collared Peccari consuming clay.
· Dinner.
· Overnight at the hostel.
Day 03: Macaw clay lick and scientific tourism.
· Observation of Parrots and Macaws in Clay Licks.
At 05:00 am, we will sail in an outboard down the Malinowski River for about 20 minutes, and then cross the Tambopata River for about 20 minutes to visit the Ocho Gallinas and Chuncho clay licks, which are clay walls on the banks of the river. Where, hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws gather to consume clay that is rich in mineral salts (high concentration of Potassium) as part of their diet, since in this part of the Amazon Potassium is very scarce and they are in these clay licks. where they acquire it.
We will have breakfast sitting in front of the clay lick while we observe one of the most beautiful natural spectacles of birdlife among the songs and colors of different species of Psittacidae.
· Lunch.
· Exposition about our research.
One of the researchers of our research project will explain to you about the project “Diversity of gastrointestinal parasites and their relationship to health in snakes of the Boidae family.” Which is being carried out within the Tambopata National Reserve, which seeks to raise awareness among the local population about the importance of boas in ecosystems.
· Dinner.
· Scientific for a few hours.
At night we will go out in search of snakes of the boidae family applying the scientific Visual Encounter Sourvey (VES) methodology. You will have the opportunity to participate in the search and data collection of captured individuals. In addition, we will be able to appreciate a great diversity of species of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and other nocturnal animals.
Day 04: Thank for your visit.

· Return to the city.
After breakfast we will return to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
· Transfer to the Airport and/or Bus Station.
