Tour Full Day:

Macaw Clay Lick.

The colorful plumages and different songs of parakeets, parrots and macaws form one of the best spectacles in nature. This place is called the Psittacid clay lick, where different species of Psittacids and cracids gather to consume clay, which is rich in mineral salts. This is the reason why every morning hundreds of psittacines gather at the Chuncho clay lick. Eight chickens, located inside the Tambopata National Reserve.

At approximately 06:00 hours we will be arriving at the Ocho Gallinas clay lick. Depending on the season, the macaw clay lick activity will be observed from the boat or from the beach. If there is no activity, we will visit the Chuncho clay lick, this clay lick has tourist infrastructure (bathroom and a hiding place). However, in both places we will have the opportunity to observe hundreds of parrots, parakeets and macaws that consume clay which is rich in mineral salts (high concentration of Potassium) as part of their diet, since in this part of the Potassium is very scarce in the Amazon and it is in these clay licks where they acquire it.

We will have breakfast sitting in front of the clay lick while we observe one of the most beautiful natural spectacles of birdlife among the songs and colors of different species of Psittacidae.

After observing the macaws, we will navigate the Tambopata River and the Malinowski River in search of fauna and mainly the Jaguar.
